From Sandy Camp Road Wetland Reserve.

1. Straw-necked Ibis


2. White-breasted Woodswallows


3. Spotless Crake. This was in deep shade down in a gully so not a good image but my first of this species.


4. Grey Shrike-thrush. This was quite close and this is uncropped. It was so close I got caught out with insufficient depth-of-field - the body is sharp but the head is a bit soft.


5. Baillon's Crake. I'm trying to get a better shot of these but they were close to the bank and behind grass so I couldn't get down low for a good angle. They are very small birds.

Wow what a huge variety of birds. You're lucky to have them close by.
#1 - I like the wider scene with just the bird and the perch. Excellent POV. #2 - Fabulous all sitting in a long line, perfectly posing for front and back shot. A bit busy and similar colours in the BG though. #3 - Great to get a keeper for a new species in your collection. I thought the stick behind it was part of its tail at first glance, so a bit of a general clean up needed. #4 - Good shot and I think it looks sharp enough at this size, well done. #5 - A tad dark but good for the scene you had. I love its bright red eye and its stunning colours as well as the overall lighting.

Thanks for the feedback Isac. Yes a good variety within a half hour drive but there are a number of other species there that I never seem to find.

I didn't take too much trouble with #3 as it is rather poor quality to start with.

No drama Alan, but I thought it was pretty good IQ. Maybe not the best pose from the bird but a special keeper for you.

Thanks David. The cuddling up is typical behaviour for these birds. I've seen shots of twenty or so of these in a line.
