  • Bush Stone-curlew and chick

Seen in the garden at an aged care facility this morning. I think I saw two chicks yesterday so perhaps one was taken by a predator. Difficult lighting as the birds were in mottled shade and bright sunlight so not the best quality.

They certainly are. I almost didn’t see them when I walked past, and I was looking for them.

Good enough conditions for your camera gear to get a good shot Alan. Their eyes are really huge, which sets them apart from other birds.

Thanks Isac. It needed a bit of fiddling with shadows and highlights.

Yes, I think Camouflage makes it a difficult photo to get.

They are superbly camouflaged. Great colours and detail again and extremely well spotted.

Wow, lovely shot. We have stone curlew here but they are extremely rare.
Always feel free to rip apart any image of mine I post.

Thanks Phill. They are fairly common here. I have even seen them in gardens in the city centre.

Excellent shot. Almost didn't see the little one.
