Nice shot, but personally i would like to see a bit more conrast. You seem to have a great selction of bird species around your way.

Thanks. Bird variety is down at the moment, but will perk up in Spring, a couple of weeks away, when the Migrant Warblers start to arrive...:-)

Personally, I think the contrast is fine as is. Great shot Mark.

The Bird's colouring blends nicely with it's background.

A few varying observations there Mark - which is a good thing! It's a good photo of a charming and colourful little bird. Your framing has given it good scale as well. I think toning down the background and lifting the colours and shadows on the bird and "stick" is what I'd do, to make the bird really pop. Just me though, others may suggest other tweaks.

Thanks all for the ideas. I did lighten the dark head a bit, and warmed the colours a bit. Lovely birds,

Nice shot Mark. While the background is a bit busy I like the colour in the bg. Depending on what the bird actually looks like, a subtle boost to saturation, brightness and perhaps contrast would be ok, but it would be easy to overdo it.
