  • Cormorants in flight

The cormorants were cooperative yesterday and I managed to get some in flight. They are nesting in a couple of trees in the lake giving quite a few opportunities for shots.

All with Nikon D850 and 500mm PF f/5.6

Cracking series. Great detail and composition. Never realised they have blue eyes. #2 & #5 would be my favorites.

It’s all green to me, but you are right of course. Amazing colour whatever you call it.

Had to copy it to my PC and blow it up. Green they are. Didn't realise my colour vision was so off.

Up and away and what goes up must come down. #4 if I was forced to make a choice.

Thanks Hans, I liked the pose in #4 but the eye isn't really visible, which lets it down a bit.

My memory's not as sharp as it used to be.

Thanks Isac. The birds cooperated for a change but it gave more detail in the dark feathers than I had in the past, probably due to better dynamic range.

Excellent shots. Really liking the last three shots the best.
