  • Dusky Moorhen Scrap

I often see Dusky Moorhens chasing others but these two were really getting into it this morning. I don't know why the colours are different in a couple, they were next to a big patch of shade so that might be it.

First outing with my new D850 and the birds cooperated. I'll write a bit more about the decision and the camera later

    Nikon D850, Nikkor 500mm PF f/5.6.

You would have to be happy with those results. There is quite a colour/ brighness shift in the last two like you said. Love the water flying about. Adds a lot to the drama in the image.
Better a full bottle in front of me
    than a full frontal lobotomy.

Excellent shots with plenty of action. Looks like the new gear is treating you well.

Excellent results with the new gear Alan. Better than I'll ever get. Great action from these duskies and you captured some great footwork.

Thanks Isac, no reason you couldn’t get the same. I’ve never seen them fight like this before, so there’s a chunk of luck involved in being there in good light at the right time, with decent gear. They were also moving so quickly, I used the spray and pray approach.

I don't see many duskies here, mainly their cousins, the coots. I have seen them chase each other about but not a full on boxing match! I only have the APS-C Canon 7Dii so my gear would never produce the IQ of your Nikon. Besides, I'm taking a break from the camera for a while.
