  • Little Corellas drinking

I went down to Eagleby Wetlands this morning and was lucky to come across these Corellas drinking and just being normal Corells. They were a bit far away and missed focus in many shots.

I had a lot of trouble controlling the whites due to the bright birds in sunlight against the background shadows. Much highlight recovery done in post.

All with Nikon d800 and Nikkor 500mm PF f/5.6

you did well in what looks to be very harsh light.
probably one of the hardest shots to pull off in this light too.
good work on getting images out of this

Thanks Stephen. It was getting a bit late in the morning, so the sun was quite bright.

Not friendly light so you've done really well. #1 for me as a wall hanger!

My memory's not as sharp as it used to be.

You did well to balance the exposure. Bright white birds and dark backgrounds are a nightmare.

Thanks David. It took a lot of Lightroom/Photoshop fiddling to get them usable.
