  • Dusky Moorhen and chicks

The chicks are just about past the cute and fluffy stage.

    1. Through the blades of grass. I tried to get some shots of the adult feeding a chick but couldn't both get the angle right and avoid the grass.

That's about their teenager size Alan. They're still cute. I refer to the baby ones as pot scourers while they have that wiry looking fur. There's a lot of coot bubs here at present and they look similar. Their feet are enormous!

I do like no1 best despite the grass. It tells the story.

Great set. I really like the interaction in the first.
    Fujifilm X-T5, XF16-80 f/4, XF70-300 f/4-5.6, XF23 f/2, XF35 f/2, XF150-600 f/5.6-8, and a random assortment of 35mm film cameras.

Thanks David, that’s what I was after, just a bit annoyed I couldn’t avoid the grass. I have a few of these shots taken over the years but not one is just right.
