I went WOW when I seen this one as I have not seen a duck in our part with this type of sheen on it.
Could you please tell me what it is as I am not real sure on that score but I like this shot and well done to you on being at the right place at the right time.

      G'day Isac

Agree with Ralph ... what an extraordinary colour / sheen across those feathers ~ incl the small 'cow-lick' curls just over the tail

These are a hybrid Ralph. I'm sure they have the Mallard in them because of the green sheen but not sure what the other breed is.
Here's a photo of the pair which have been at this #2 lake for years.

I'm as pleased as you Phil, I've never seen this duck display its feathers like this and I've seen them around for years. They even go for walks up the street to visit the neighbourhood and are part of our community.

good work on this one. amazing colours
has the curled tail feathers of a mallard.
green head like that of a mallard drake on steroids, but lacking the white neck ring.
            seems mallard bill also.
            wonder what is crossed with?
            interesting pix

Thanks for that Stephen. I didn't notice the colours until I saw it on the PC. 100% Mallard and could be crossed with a Hardhead or Pekin.
          Working...
