  • scarlet robin male wingstretch

    about as close as I got to getting a open wing pic of this guy.
    fast and twitchy. he never telegraphed anything. sitting there and gone in a flash. notice even 1/1250 not freeze the wings.

    I like the pose you got here. Nice shot!

      I also find that the small birds do not seem to give any indication for their departure / movement
      Your pic above is a real beauty - definitely one for the album

        Thanks mate. Not even sure he was going. From memory, this was just a turn around.
        He was very frustrating tho. I got dozens of bird on a branch pix whilst he was around but no wings out.
        can't complain too much cos I enjoyed watching them sitting there watching for stuff in the garden.
        there are sometimes mealworms and things in or on the firewood we bring to the house. Any movement and they straight on it.

          Another winner Stephen. Those colours are brilliant against the background. I don't mind a bit of motion blur on wings, it shows they are really quick.
