  • Pink Cockatoo

I was old with me old mate and he knows where a lot of birds are in our area.
He knew a pair to be in the area where this one was but they are not there all the time.
So we looked for other birds when the squawk of the Pink Cockatoo was heard.
Looking about and then there high in the tree we see it.
Luck was on our side as it came down lower.

a little side note my mate never got a shot as he has been having trouble with the focus on his camera.
I truly felt bad for him on this day.

Great series, superb colour and detail. That crest is really something. #6 and #7 would be my pick, but would be happy to have taken any of them.

Good set Ralph. 4, 6 and 7 are the standouts for me - facing the camera, crest up, excellent colour and sharpness.

Thanks Alan I like the crest up ones myself but I like to shot them at other angles as well here and there.

Thanks so much and I have seen people come from far and wide to get shots of these with their crest up.
So I am quite lucky to have these drop into our area from time to time.

Thanks so much. I am really happy to be able to get these and I hope with Summer coming they will be a little easier to find and then get more shots of them.

4 and the last if I had to pick would be the ones of my top picks.
Where we are in right in their limits but they don't know what this means. So we do see them all over our area from time to time.
And it is always a treat to see and capture them.
So these are always are on the want to get list on outing's.

most cockatoos will put the crest fully up upon landing too, so if you know that and ready, you likely to get crest up pix, even the sulphur cresteds here look good with it fully up

I have seen this an know it to be very true. But the likes of this one who was a show off was raising it's crest while it was walking along the branch.
So at time it is an individual thing with the crest but they will always raise it on landing which is just what you have said.

They do raise crests quite often though
