For me I think these are an interesting duck as they really are not the big as ducks go but look to have a lot of attitude to them.
Been lucky enough to be able to get shots of these just over the road which is really unusual but I will take it every time.
I can't fault the shot and like them a lot.

Thanks for that Ralph. Here's a bit of info about the ducks: The Hardhead Duck (Aythya australis), also known as the white-eyed duck, is the only true diving duck found in Australia. The common name "hardhead" has nothing to do with the density of the bird's skull, but refers to the difficulty encountered by early taxidermists in processing the head.
Hardheads are found in wetter, coastal regions of Australia, particularly in the south-west (where I live) and the south-east. They are seen as far afield as New Guinea, New Zealand, and the Pacific Islands.
Hi Isac. I can see the effects of the rain and low-light levels ... and the birds seem to be pulling their heads in for comfort as well ! Phil
The lake water level is the highest I've ever seen it in over 28 years Phil and last night it rose some more with very heavy rain. The ducks are loving it!
