  • Grebe and Heron

I got a bit closer to an unsuspecting Grebe - but not too close.

Composite of a White Faced Heron in flight.I don't see them flying around that often, so these were quick grabs.

Excellent shot of the Grebe with good colour, detail and sharpness. The water drops show up well. They are wonderful subjects if you can get close enough.

The Heron looks good too, at least at this size, so I don't know why you qualify them as quick grabs. There does seem to be an abrupt change of tone on the left wing of the image on the right.

Thanks for that Alan. The grebes are just stunning to watch but yeah, they are very shy. This one was just not bothered with me as I slowly moved to the edge of the lake to get a bit closer.
The heron shots were from a burst so it may be that the light was on the wing more on the downward flap.

Alan's right though Phil. these to shots would have only been less than 1 second apart.

We have got our Grebes back in across the road again and I am going to post a few a little later and our ones here will swim away but slowly come back slightly but never to a close.
But I do enjoy getting them and the Heron's are here also though not everyday. And again these birds are the same as in keeping their distance from you. So I really do know how hard it is to get them.
