  • Red Kites around the Camooweal lagoon

    G'day all

Camooweal is a tiny town of 200+/- people on the Queensland-Northern Territory border. Every few years the river floods, leaving behind lagoons several hundred metres long which slowly dry up. While there is still water about, the birds make the best of it.

Wonderful to see such a fabulous bird Phil and you've captured it with great surrounding elements. #1 and #2 are far too dark for my eyes. Try lifting those shadows and you'll see some beautiful colours on the bird. If you're OK with it, I'd like to show you what I'd do with #3? What version of PSE do you use?

I like these shot and I am not sure if I have got one of these or not but, I'm thinking I don't.
I am a little on Isac side on the 1st two shot but the 3 I would not touch as it is showing all we need to see.
Plus I think the height of the bird has got a lot to do with the shots.

        Hi Isac

I have played with #3 from above -
a)- is this what you're thinking of? ... select bird, do a 25% shadows lift + 20% saturation on feathers
b)- it is not what I would usually do with a bird shot ... I like shadows and a bit of image-contrast

You have got a heap more information in this shot now than what is in the original one. It is better yes but honestly I was still happy with the 1st one as it stood.
      Working...
