  • Australasian Grebe

25-05-22 I went for a walk across the road to the wetlands that are there and found that the number of the little Grebe are on the rise here.
I am very pleased with this as I must say I like this little waterbird.

Very nice Ralph. They are very photogenic little birds, but usually keep their distance.

These ones close to home if you stand there they will slowly come closer towards you.
And they are good when they do this.

What is there not to like? Nice to see them better still if you have nice pictures you can see anytime.

Beautiful shots of a very shy little bird Ralph. Great detail, natural colours and well framed, using the positive and negative space perfectly to include the lovely reflection.

My memory's not as sharp as it used to be.

That spacing that you mentioned is something that I full agree on and there are times when it just doesn't work right. But I did do some reading where it said that it makes the shot look right if it has room in the direction it is going into. And I have been following this for a long time and I have told a once friend who disagreed but their shots looked cramped. So I think it is the right way about it. Thanks for your kind words on these.

    G'day Ralph

They're a beaut set of super-sharp images ... pat yourself on the back and buy yourself a chocolate as your prize!
