  • Comb-crested Jacana and Willie Wagtail

This Willie Wagtail was following the feeding Jacana and catching insects it disturbed. I don't know if it was actually stealing the Jacanas prey.

Jacanas are much smaller than you first think and the having the Willie beside it gives a good indication of scale.

Good story in pictures Alan. Well captured. I think it's a good thing when you can show a familiar subject to compare the size of other objects. Often placing an object next to a box of matches made it easy to gauge its true size. Many nowadays wouldn't know what a box of matches is

Cheers Alan. I can understand the situation trying to get 2 birds in the same frame. It was hard enough in the clubs back in the sixties
The low frame rate in Full Frame cameras is perhaps the more work with a large processor and buffer capacity. I suppose next for you will be the Nikon Z 7II. 45.7MP and 10FPS.

Well a Z9 would be nice, but that won’t be happening. I’ll be staying with the D800 for a while unless it breaks. Otherwise the Z7 has some limitations at 10fps so I will be waiting for the next version - or go for a second hand D850. All of the prices are a bit rich for me.

Yeah, I'm stuck with my 7Dii till the end of time - I'm going to be left behind with what's available nowadays especially with mirrorless cameras. I'm just a pensioner and prices of everything is just skyrocketing so we are going backwards fast. I'm feeling a bit down with the way this country has lost its way to greed and how it is not so great any more for us forgotten old folk.

Thank you for showing the size difference as I was one that thought these to be close to a thin Chicken size.
I was so wrong and happy to say so at that. These shots so it so well meaning these are all great captures.
This is a very well done.

Thanks Ralph. Even seeing them with my own eyes, I don’t realise how small they are and am surprised how small they are in the image
