Sometimes, while walking Charlie, I see birds in trees that are just silhouettes or too far away to recognise so I don't bother to take a shot. But for this one, I wasn't confident but took a 400mm shot anyway because the outline looked like some sort of raptor but I had no idea what type. It kept its back to me wherever I positioned myself so a back shot was all I could get - better than nothing I guess. To my surprise when I viewed on my PC, it discovered that it was a Collared Swallowhawk! I've never seen one before so I'm happy that I got a new sighting. Some days are just better than others.

Worked out well Isac, and I like the pose showing the back and face. Removing a couple of branches, particularly the front out-of-focus one, would make a big difference.Comment

I revisited this one after Alan's advice and decided a vertical image looks better. (IMHO)
