  • Airborne Port Lincoln Parrot

    G'day all

Entered into the 'Birds' category somewhat tongue-in-cheek, esp when compared with Alan & Ralph & Isac's beaut bird shots

1)- Flying around the countryside on the Ayre Peninsula of South Australia, this fella was making his mark

    exif- Panny FZ-300; 1/1300s x F4,0; ISO-100; lens at 24x zoom / 600mm FFequiv

2)- Not quite so close - a bit more of the parrot

    exif- Panny FZ-300; 1/200s x F4,0; ISO-100; lens at 8x zoom / 215mm FFequiv

3)- The entire artwork - another grain silo

    exif- Panny FZ-300; 1/1300s x F4,0; ISO-100; lens at 2x zoom / 45mm FFequiv

ps- the bloke is a local character, now well into his 80s along with one of his favourite camels from the days when he ran camel carting thru the sandy lower parts of Australia

    As always, feedback welcome
    Phil

Glorious images. The colours on the parrot are very vivid. Good bit of history attached to the artwork. Your foray into the fascinating world of bird photography has started with a bang!

I have not seen one of these in a very long time and I will go hunting when I go to visit a couple of brothers in Whyalla , S.A.
I know they are that way.
But to have the skill levels of the people that do this as their way to earn a crust you have to give them a lot of credit.

Yes Ralph - these artists are very competent and a damn sight better at it than I ever was back in school days when I was doing 'art'

Great work Phil, capturing it in flight, although the feathers look a bit fuzzy. Perhaps a faster shutter speed would have helped.

      Great artwork on the silos.
