  • Last of the bird shots from Tygum on Monday

    1. Pacific Black Duck. Because they are so common I don't photograph these often unless there is interesting light, reflections or action. This looked interesting at the time.

    3. Double-bar Finches. Almost didn't keep this one because they wouldn't come out into the open. I like the poses but not the clutter.

    5. Sacred Kingfisher. Another that isn't really a keeper as the bird was too far away. This is a small part of the full frame.

I'm sure there are lots of people that would love to have thought they had taken your discards Alan.

Thanks Hans. I still kept them even though I have better earlier shots of these birds. It's hard to hit the delete key sometimes.

They definitely wouldn't be in my delete list! The PB in #1 looks like it's very content and feeling safe in that spot. With the Kingfisher, I'd completely blacken the background and then put a backlight behind it. It would pop off the page. I did that to a shot of my friend's Eclectus which was just sittig on top of its cage with a messy background. It changed the image completely.

My memory's not as sharp as it used to be.

Thanks Isac. With the Kingfisher I would do something about the bg if the bird was larger in the frame. It was so far away that I was pleasantly surprised to find a couple of shots actually in focus.

No worries, just a thought. Somewthing to consider for another image.
