  • The swans have hatched another clutch

A pair of swans nest regularly at Tygum Park, Waterford West, and have hatched the latest clutch in the last couple of days. I managed to get a few shots in, but didn't manage to get the whole family in focus in a single shot.

Two of the last lot are still hanging around and one had a go at the new babies at one point.

I haven't been out with the camera for a couple of weeks, and it looks like we are heading for another lockdown before long.

All with D800 and Nikon 500mm PF f/5.6

    Good stuff Alan
Not noticing any focus issues. You are obviously more critical.

Thanks Hans. These shots are ok for focus. It was when I tried to include both adults as well as the babies that I couldn't get them all in focus.

Glorious shots Alan. #2 is a gem. Just one bug for me is in #1 where the BG "stick" is distracting at he bottom of the swan's beak. Is that a bit harsh? Our pair of swans has vanished AGAIN! so I'm not anticipating any cygnet shots this season.

My memory's not as sharp as it used to be.

Thanks Isac. It’s not too harsh. I looked at that after removing a clump of twigs from the lower left and decided to leave it. There are some artifacts left from what I did, so it does need more work.

Lovely images Alan, I am quite envious.
The swans have just shown up at my local lake after an absence of ~18 months, must get some shots of them to post.
