#1: Well captured and a lovely pose. Colours are vibrant and framing is good too.
#2: Front on with the head turn - Excellent! I don't get too many front on shots so well done - nice and clear as well, good contrasts.
#3: Nice tight group shot, well exposed and they all seem to be keeping a good lookout for that discarded chip! I like the framing and centred is quite OK for a shot like this, as they are all looking in different directions.
Nice series, more to come I hope.

My memory's not as sharp as it used to be.
Also, my memory's not as sharp as it used to be.

Thanks for the CC and kind words Isac. I did forget to clean up the droppings around the Heron. The FZ300 is not in the league of the 7DII/Siggy 150-600 combo, but as long as I work within the limitations the images are quite presentable on the forum.

If you're happy then we're are too. It seems to be OK for the job and you'll probably get better with it as you keep playing.

I thought that the gang of 5 deserved a frame.

Now you're just showing off! For your next challenge and a more professional aesthetic, try colour matching the matte boards with colours in the image.

Maybe later, this was just a spur of the moment thing.

I like it when they sit still. Tried to get a picture of a swallow in flight but I couldn't catch it.

      G'day GJ
A fine collection - but I am not sure as to sharpness / detail within the images. It could well be that you (like me all too often) are stretching the limits of the lens ....... and a 7D plus damn-fine coca-cola bottle will always bring home the prizes!

In #3 - with the white feathers ... I have found that I need to do an exposure shift to minus 2/3EV for white birds so that the breast feathers do not burn out. In fact here - if you look into Greg's framed pic, there is a sllight change to the whites from your original pic. Have a close sqwiz and see

Thanks for the feedback Phil. The first two images are serious crops which probably accounts for the !Q issues. I will have to make sure that the birds are closer before I click the button . The framed version of the gulls had a slightly different treatment in PP. By the way I did the framed pic as well.

        Hi John
"serious crops" - yes I now understand a bit more - and it makes sense now
I had presumed the image on display was at or close to full frame

I thought the sharpness and detail looked pretty good, at this size anyway, on #2 and #3. The swallow is a bit too small in the frame to see much detail.

Thanks for the feedback Alan. The swallow image is more for my benefit, it's the only one I've managed to photograph that is anywhere near decent. I thought showing it sitting in a 100mm post gave a sense of it's size. This is a HUGE crop, I'll post the SOOC image later this arvo.

I don't mind the shot John Just a ROT on the position of the bird in frame would have improved it. AND a little brighter.
