  • Visiting the Jerrabomberra wetlands

    G'day all

We're in the A.C.T. at the moment visiting family - and yesterday I went out to their local wetlands
I've been there many times over the years, but over the last decade it has been little more than a dried up swamp ... few birds and no lake or running waters - but now bursting with bird calls from the waters, the reeds and the trees surrounding the wetlands itself

Thinking I might get some pics similar to Isac's from last week or so, off I went ... to be disappointed. Distances between me and the birds at 50 metres or more, and even racking the lens out to its max of 720mm FF-Equiv was not enough. But I pressed the button anyway and cropped my pics from there

    1) leave me alone ... i'm sleepy

    2) stuck in the reeds

    3) escape - beaudy mate

I don't know what the moorhen was up to ~ it was in the reeds and flapping around for ages before 'escaping' and getting back into the water

    As always, feedback welcome
    Phil

Full marks for trying. I feel nature conspired against you.

Good results for the distance to subject Phil. The grey teal in the 1st looks very relaxed and I like the timber objects that balance and give some scale to the image. Sometimes the duskies get their huge feet caught up in the reeds so that may be the case here.

My memory's not as sharp as it used to be.

            Thanks Stephen

I would like 'em to be "clearer & sharper" but with 50m between them & me, it ain't gunna happen anytime soon
