nice capture of this guy. guessing the light was harsh and that the kooka was a bit hot around the head?
overall I think black and white suits the shot anyhow.
unsure of how I feel about the stuff on the lhs of the image. I think it pulls the eye away from the subject.
perhaps you could remove them and back the exposure of the shot a bit too which would probably draw more attention to the bird

I agree with removing the distractions but a good solid B&W conversion. A bit of work would be a lovely low key image.
