my latest attempt to get some action on the forum again.
got this guy coming in the other day. taken in late afternoon light and a nw wind. that means that birds will mostly take of and land into the light.
this was 2 days ago and I think it is probably my best pic of currawongs because everything was symetrical Click image for larger version

been spending a bit of time on assorted birds inbound to the water trying to get stuff like this.
currawongs seem to have been the main target too because there has been a lot around after the magpies have run off to nest

Lovely work as usual Stephen. Great wing and tail spread with a nice bokeh. I did a shadows lift on it and there's some wonderful detail in those chest feathers and it also lifts the details in the wings and tail. Just my view.

Thanks mate I looked at shadow lift but it seemed OK otherwise so I left it be. The combo is capable of lots of details though. Love it

Lovely picture and bird Stephan. They love peanuts by the way.
Notice this comment never made it. Thought of a question to ask someone that has such close observations. The tip feathers do they use them for micro adjustment?

thanks mate, to be honest I am not sure whether they use the tips for micro adjustment. never get that good a look at them doing stuff.
I reckon there are enough of them around here without putting peanuts around for them. I think about easy 10 pairs nesting not too far from the house. maybe 200m

We used to be on their route they would come and scratch around cleaning up according to their diet. The family getting to about 20 in number. We lived in a bush setting. They definitely had a set territory and route.
