  • I never knew!

I saw this male Australian Wood Duck fly from the lake and land about 5 metres up onto a gum tree branch. I know they nest in trees but never actually seen one IN a tree.
No CC it's only a quick snap.

I know they nest a few hundred meters from the house each year. I might have to make it a project one time.

Cheers chaps. Hans, you'll have to keep your eyes open and see if you can get the "Tree" shot. I await....

        G'day fellas

Yeah ..... I have seen Guinea Fowl who normally are ground based birds fly up into trees each night - and at a local swamp I have seen hundreds of egrets / herons nesting? in the trees ... certainly occupying the trees alongside the swamp for 2-3 months during what I presume is nesting time? Sept-Oct sort of thing

Cheers Phil. I have seen the herons a lot in the trees. We have a huge gum they like to sit up on top and just peer around.
      Working...
