    this is on what I call the raptor tree at the back of the property. we get a few raptors hang around there to spot prey etc. is very open and they dont take too kindly to people trying to approach.
    this is as close as I got before it flew off. had a family of them around the house paddock a while back in the rain and dud light. got similar distance pix but in busy branches etc. seem to have gone now too
    d5 600f4 tc17 (1000mm) iso 1600 1/4000 f11. decent crop 1/4 of frame

    lens + tc + a fair crop and it is still a damn fine image > well done
    -and I know all too well about 'flighty animals' that disappear all to early

      Yeah and you reckon birds of prey have good vision. This was one of the insurance shots as I was working closer

        Wonderful capture Stephen. Nice gear for getting the far away shot to crop as good as that.
