    Nice set of images Pete focus looks spot on, I think #2 is my favourite.
    Only negative comment is that you could have given the bird a bit more space at the bottom esp. #1 & #3. If these are cropped images it is easily fixed. Can also be fixed in PP by adding some canvas to the bottom of the image and cloning in some grass. I used to zoom in really close, but now I always make a point of giving the subject plenty of space. Easier to crop than to add .

      I've never seen one of these Pete. Good colours and detail. I agree with Grumpy John the edges are a bit tight. All good though, I'm sure it's a quick fix for you.

      Masked Lapwing would be the name for this bird.
      Last is the best I'd think. Nice composition and environs and best focus on the eye. If the 2nd had more room at top it might become the fave.

        ultra zoom did well for you. first one looks to have focus behind the bird imho. 2nd and 3rd appear sharper to me. perhaps some usm could help. agree with the tightness in frame issues also
