  • Black Shouldered Kite

Taken at Bushells Lagoon, NW Sydney.

Not the sharpest as it was a fair crop. Keep telling myself closer- closer & then a little bit closer.

    f5.6 / 1/1600 / ISO 320.

I think the crop has worked out fairly well Ross. IQ is only a tad down and it's nice to even get the shot in the first place. OK sharpness on the eye so that's a good thing. They are a beautiful regal looking bird. Nice work.

My memory's not as sharp as it used to be.

        G'day Ross

It's a beautiful clear and sharp image with plenty of fine detail .... don't run your efforts down because you think "it's not 110% perfect". You've been shooting 'in-the-wild' and the result is there for all to see.

I personally get quite pi$$ed at magazine texts that show all the fleas on the feathers of a bird while talking about shooting in the wild, whereas the illustration has been shot in an aviary from a distance of 2 to 3 metres

Very nice,it`s easy to blow out the whites in shots like this but you`ve nailed it.

I'm with very noise. Birds like flowers are there to be admired. We have had some ugly ones here but he is a prince!

nice catch. looks quite noisy to me, wondering if the original was dark and you had to lift it in post. I used to go to bushels a lot but last time there it was near dry, of course I not live in sydney anymore so is even tougher to get there.

Thanks Stephen, no it wasn't dark but it was a very large crop.
