  • honey eater thru the window.

for the last few weeks there have been fires around here, including 2 emergency level alerts and seek shelter etc. the sight of 30m flames coming over the hill hasn't been fun to watch.
even if we wanted to leave, it was a case of having to stay anyhow due to road closures, but we figured we could defend it here. so far all has been good,
but there has been smoke everywhere here and we not really been outside for pix, our journeys outside have been ember patrol and watering stuff down.
so there has been some traffic around the bird bath so I tried a few pix out the closed window.
most looked a bit funky somehow, so wasnt happy to do them. this was with the glass window around 30 or so degrees to the lens axis and the camera was a few metres away inside the room.
there were a few that only looked a little funky. this honey eater was one of them.
is a yellow faced honey eater. that I was watching drink and I hoped it would land near the bird bath for pix. it didnt, but surprisingly focus stayed on him well enough for this pic.
the funkyness of the glass shows mainly on the background in this pic and mainly affected middle background stuff. I liked the drama of this pic nonetheless Click image for larger version

People agonise over the quality of their filter glass. Looks like window glass will do just fine. As good as you likely to do at that point in time. I would consider that a success. A quality picture with interest.

I like it,looks like he`s telling you to p#$% off with the camera.Wouldn`t worry about the bg,the main subject is where it counts and you`ve caught him very well.
