overcast is not always your enemy. can help you a lot with white birds. you did well with these anyhow. light looks nice on the walking egret too. good work

I prefer overcast as do a lot of photographers - better than harsh sunlight. You did well with both of these Kevin. They are a graceful bird. We get them now and again popping in to visit our lake. Always welcome, they are good subjects. Higher ISO nowadays doesn't seem to be a problem with the latest hi-tech sensors.I Shoot A Canon

Nothing wrong with those. The angle isn't the most flattering for the bird in the first picture. It looks a bit foreshortened.
Better a full bottle in front of me
than a full frontal lobotomy.
