Stuck with this pelican for a solid 5 mins waiting for it to do something interesting. Preening was about as good as it got.

Then this seagull drinking from a puddle but I was on the wrong side of the light.

Just goes to prove the saying - "never work with kids and animals", they're very uncooperative.

They don't take direction well at all.

Tend to storm off if given direction I've found

Very good exposure on the pelican shots Todd, good detail retained. easily lightened for the sea gull shot that's on the "wrong side"

Thanks Greg. I've already lifted that shadows significantly. Was quite harsh light unfortunately.

Ah well - you can only do what you can do. It's still OK.

Always good to see a pelican or two.
Both are good subjects to practice on when little else around. Thanks.

good that you captured some sort of behaviour. to me the white boats in the background pulls the viewers eye an awful lot though

Thanks Stephen. Yeah spot on with the boats. I do have an alternate but not doing anything other than sitting

even that pic has more appeal than the one with the white birds. probably need to clone the zit (buoy) from the water, cos it does catch the eye, probably cropping a tad closer better cos it get rid of the pole too. perhaps a bit of cw rotation whilst at it?

Agree with the comment about getting rid of the buoy and pole. Disagree about rotating image, the vertical line of the pole shows that the image is "level".
Maybe a crop as shown below.

Thanks guys. I figured it was a pretty average image so didn't really bother doing anything with it.
