Birds on a Wire

A couple of Pretty ones on the Powerline beside my house this morning.

Nikon D7100 and Tamron 150-600 G1


Rainbow Bee-Eater... @600mm, f6.3, 1/3200, iso1000.


Sacred Kingfisher... @600mm, f6.3 , 1/4000, iso1000.

Looks like a scruffy skalywag I like the personality it implies. The Kingfisher looks like he is dressed for a slightly more formal occasion. Only negative thing I would have is that they are on a wire instead of a branch.

I chose that one over this slightly less scruffy pose, because I think it portrayed a bit more character.

By all reports the Sigma 150-600's are great performers, so should give great results with that new 7D, which did you opt for, the "C" or the Sports ? I'm assuming the C, because the Sport model weighs a tonne.
The arm is doing well, I spent an hour every 2nd day in the gym for 3 months.

I know how you feel, I had rotator cuff surgery back in April and have been doing physio for about 8 weeks now.

Cheers Stephen. It's not often I get lucky with the light at my place, so many trees so much shade. Nice to get them in decent light for a change.
I'll take a bird on a wire over no bird anytime, especially when when the light is right.
