we went to check the mail last week and this guy and some thornbills were hanging around above the mailbox and general area so we got home and back again as quick as possible and got cameras, so as expected, once there with a camera, we saw squat. so went home again.
so next day we went down armed at about the same time we had seen him the previous day.
luckily he was there again and just as keen to see what we were up to. may well have nest in the area.
well, he teased us for quite a while, above me, behind me, etc etc, but relented and landed on this branch. not that bad a perch and he let me get a few pix .

I was surprised at their size. the scarlett makes them look spectacular too. think he is looking at the idiot with the camera trying to get him to make eye contact

Really like the shot and I had a look in my book and they miss my area.
But I do think someone in the bird club got a shot of one, but if it was here I am not too sure of that part.
But its a striking little bird.

thanks folks, we have seen the odd one here and there over the years, always in dud light or something. hopefully the residents around here know we come in peace and hang around
