    The Lake

    I have found a local lake less than 5 minutes drive from my house and it looks like it could be a good location for bird life.
    Definitely not up to the standard of other posters here, but I think that I'm getting the hang of things. A lot less deleted images from this mornings effort even though the lighting was not all that great. If I intend to get serious about birding I will have to get myself a decent long lens, 200mm is just not good enough for shooting birds at a distance.

    #2 I don't like wildlife images dominated by man made structures, but I thought this image was too good to pass up. This guy looks really annoyed, maybe it's all the construction going on in his back yard.

    #3 Quite a savage crop on this one, however I think that the IQ is still okay, not great. I need a long lens, and a bird book.

    Good results with a 200mm John. Imagine what you could do with a 400mm lens.

      Saving for one of these. Sigma 150-600mm F5-6.3 DG OS HSM Lens - Contemporary.
      Sell my Siggy 70-200 and 2x converter, keep the Tamron 70-200 macro.

      I'm really pleased with my Bigma so the Siggy 600 looks good from reviews.

    Not much wrong with the IQ of these GJ. I think you would love a long lens, especially for this genre. They do weigh a bit but with your new shoulder strap it makes it so much more comfortable to cart them around. You may already know but the first bird is a White Faced Heron and the last is a Pacific Black Duck. Great to see you have water in your lake. Ours is now officially bone dry and it looks bloody horrible!
