    That's a pretty impressive test post.

      Although I usually use a DSLR and zoom lens for birding, I occasionally also use a M43 and zoom lens. Neither lens is a pro level one and both put me at roughly the same focal length.

      I quickly tried to find a comparative sample but no such luck unfortunately.

      Anyway here are two images of a Superb Fairy-wren, different light, reserves, and days, but IMO, it shows they both can produce reasonable results.

        These are lovely images Richard. I am probably not alone here in asking what gear you use. Camera models and lens models. Whatever they are, they are working fabulously when coupled with your great skill.
