  • Three Egrets

Three egrets (Eastern Great Egrets, I think) lit by the setting sun. The right-most one is not in focus unfortunately.

Another shot from this afternoon. This was the most productive outing I've had for months.

I really like the lighting in this image Alan. The reflections add an extra dimension also, well done.

Interesting lighting for sure. The birds do pop out at you.
I would crop of the bottom so the reflections almost act as leading lines.

Thanks John and Toddy. I will try a small crop off the bottom.

Nice work wigz. Reflections are really good too. A little darkish but it works here to show that the sun is on the way down.

Thanks Isac. I'm still unsure of the pp on this. Brightening it makes the birds look blown, brightening the shadows make it look washed out, and I like the contrast between birds and background. I'll go back to it in a few days.

Do you have RAW or JPG? CS6 shadows adjustment seems to work well, have you tried it? It's pretty powerful. I have an action that does it in one go if you want it.

Thanks Isac, I have CS6 so no problem there.

Here's the action if you want it. It's the last action in the set and is very subtle so you can run it a few times until you get the result you're after.
