  • A bit rare

These are a couple of rare shots for me. I don't usually see the swans flying about (#1) and I've NEVER seen a Purple Moorhen chic (#2). Not the best IQ - I had a Cavoodle pulling on his lead, but happy I got a few shots.
    #1 - Smooth Landing.

#2 - Focus was in the right spot to get the chic. They are exremely shy when you have a dog with you.

My memory's not as sharp as it used to be.

Nicely done Greg. Threaded the needle to get that chick.

I was quite surprised to see that the focus worked on this one Todd.

Thanks for that Ross. The lake does provide some good photo ops.

Napoleon had black swans from Australia in a pond in his garden. Bit he didn't have a nice picture like that though.

I was not aware of that fact Hans! Glad you like the swan.

You pick up lots of useless info when you travel.

I have not been able to get a Black swan ready to take off and the last Purple Swamp Hen with a baby hid the little bugger.
It was down the river and as I moved in closer they went into the reeds.
I went in and looked but the baby must have been in the over hang on the edge of the bank.
Nice shots that you have posted and I like the baby one better because I know its a harder shot for me to get.

Thank you Arthur. I missed a shot today of 3 black swans all flying together across the lake - Damn!! Those baby moorhens are very timid and scatter as soon as you get near them. I hope to get better ones soon, before they grow up.
