  • Bush Stone Curlews

Had an unproductive morning at the wetlands. Kingfishers too high in the trees; honeyeaters that hid in the foliage. I was driving out when I noticed these two five or six metres from the access road. Parked the car and walked to their sunny side and got these. They were a bit shyer than ones I have seen before and wouldn't let me get too close, but managed to mostly fill thie frame. The ones I've seen in the past just acted like statues.

They were definately interested in you as much as the other way around. Well captured.

Got to agree with the Hans Man! Wonderful photo wigz. Good pos/neg space and nice natural colours. Good lighting and they stand out on the BG too.

        G'day Alan

Yes mate - they mostly get by by looking like statues for hours at a time ... often partially hidden via plants & shrubs - so for you to see 'em out in the open is unusual
ps- your pic is beaut too

        well done
        Phil

I have only ever seen these in place other than in the wild and to date I have got a shot or 2 but nothing to write home about.
So I need to get a shot or 2 like this one.

Definitely a good consolation prize after the others wouldn’t cooperate.
They must think if they stay completely still you won’t be able to see them.
            Cheers, Brad.
