Excellent work Greg. Colourful, sharp and those wings must have been really flapping to get them blurred at 1/2000th.

My memory's not as sharp as it used to be.

Love the little Spine-bills and they've taken a liking to the birdbath I have hanging in the Fuchsias. They are almost like pets now and I can stand as close as a meter at times'
      Thanks for looking.

        Nice clean background and composition.

Crops look a bit tight for my taste but that's just me. They also look a tad under exposed on my monitor and something strange going on in the eye of the second bird?

How lucky are you to have them so tame and so close Jealous. My backyard is way too dark and busy

(including the exif data might be useful just to see how it's done?)

Thanks Alan. These little birds are extremely quick and continually dart about between light and shade. Both shots were a little dark and the exposure was brought up to where I liked it in processing. My basic setting for backyard birds is: Manual, f 6.3, shutter 1/1025 or 1/2000 depending on the light and ISO on auto. I spot meter and spot focus but have a programmed setting set up for tracking if I’m trying to catch them in flight. The camera is 42 Mp, so I’ve got the ability to crop heavily if I decide to. My yard is not very tidy and the fences old, so backgrounds are a problem and I do my best to eliminate as much of it as I can. Thanks for your thoughts.

Thanks, yes they certainly are a blur. I’m yet to get a decent shot of them hovering but I’m working on it. They are just like a humming-bird!
