Been way too long without a 4wd and way way way too long since I got into birding.
Quick overnighter to the Fitzroy river was in order to check out the new camping setup and to make sure that none of the work I'd done on the Cruiser would cause her to burst into flames or blow up. Nothing fell off or exploded and no flames so all good! ( My mechanical skills are legendary)
This was almost my first frame for the morning so was pretty pleased with the trip all round. Went for an explore later and discovered a large flock of brolgas so I know where trip #2 will be. Spooked them as I drove in so another trip required now that I know where they hang out, can't wait.
Egrets in flight present wonderful opportunities, such grace and beauty Need to capture them in early light imho because their feathers are quite fine and once the light is a bit strong you end up with white blobs. That's how it goes in the harsh Kimberley light anyway. Captured this from my campsite while cooking the morning bacon and eggs. Great start to the day.
Very happy with the timing on this shot.
