  • Bassian thrush

    was in wollemi national park last week and at dusk was surprised to see the normally shy bassian thrush out from cover. it never really stopped moving so I managed to get below the creek bank and work my way in front of it. this pic was about the favourite

        thanks folks. the patterns are part of its camo. you rarely see them in the open. not sure why this guy was out. but you could imagine the difficulty in picking it out if in the underbrush.

        you can often see them scuttling about in the brush. noises give them away. funny is the 2nd bassian we have seen out in the open in a month or so, the other one was at burralow creek and we were there with no cameras. it came out and sat close by, knowing full well that we could not get pix. felt like throwing rocks at it. grrrrrr
