  • Tawny Frogmouth Trio

My neighbour texted me this morning to say these birds were on their property. The frogmouth is a different species to that of owls, although people tend to confuse them with owls.

The first image was taken with a 70-300mm lens and the next with a 200-500mm. The third was taken much closer to where the birds were situated with the 200-500mm. Selby, Vic.

Wonderful photos Kathie. They have faces that only a mother could love, but they do hold a certain fascination for us birders.

Very nice Kathie. They are fascinating birds. You can usually walk right up to them; perhaps they think their camouflage makes them invisible.

Would have been nice to walk right up to them but they're high up in a tree on a steep block so the third shot was probably the best angle I could get.

Must be at least 25 years since I saw one of these in the bush. I am sure There would have been a lot more if I had known where to look.
You are getting the evil eye in the third photo.
                  Nice.
