  • New Years Eve at the Lake

    1. The new ALDI store adds a different backdrop to the lake. It doesn't seem to bother the birds and animals, in fact their numbers have increased.

good assortment in what looks to be less than ideal conditions. the dotteral probably cleans up the best of these. bit of ps on the bg and presto. lifts it a lot

Thank you Mick and Stephen. I can sit and watch the stilts for ages - they are beautiful birds. You're right with the bg Stephen. All done and looks 100%.

Here you go Stephen. I was going to tighten the crop, but not doing so I thing gives a better sense of scale.

yep. that sorted it. amazing how a branch leading out of the frame can pull the eye

Speaking of eyes, that's been one of my recent issues. I'm having eye injections to repair a lot of damage because of blocked veins in the retina. Not a very nice thing to be going through but it's coming good (touch wood!). Probably why I didn't pick up on the branch. Cheers.

Sorry to hear that you have had eye troubles.
Glad also to read that the increased human activity has not frightened off the birds... yet.
                Hope it stays that way.
My favourite of these is the willy in 4. I think it because of the hunting pose, bokeh and composition.

Thanks Jo, I'm on the mend and starting to get out and about - very scary when eye problems come along. The willies are like maggies when they're looking after bubs. They swoop and don't stop squawking while you're anywhere near them, but they don't attack.

Nice series. I particularly like the dotterel and stilt.

Thanks Alan. Dotterels fascinate me. They are so tiny and shy and they are very colourful.
