A few more shots of the bee-eaters from last week.

Nikon D800, Sigma 120-300 f/2.8 + 2x TC @ 600mm. 1/1250 f/8 ISO 720. Very heavy crop.

#3. I tried to get a shot of them in flight or taking off. I managed to get a couple in the frame, but they were just too quick for me.

Thanks Phil. Although not so obvious at this size, #3 is not sharp and the eyes are in shadow. Could have been a great shot though.

Many years ago we had a group of them sitting on the power lines, picking off bees attracted to a eucalypt near the front of our house. Didn't have a long lens then. Alas the tree has gone, the suburb is built out, and haven't seen them near the house since.

Would just love and opportunity, because images such as yours show how wonderfully gorgeous these birds are.
