  • Crested Pigeon couple

Crested Pigeon pair who nest in my backyard
They had 2 chicks last year
Most of the time they fail because possums raid their nest at night

Nice work. You have captured their delicate colours well and the background is nice and clean. I think I'd prefer them sitting on something more natural though, but you have to take what you get.

We have them around here and I've found them surprisingly hard to photograph. We had some nest here a few years ago and they failed too - crows got the young, I think.

They have a hard time, being such gentle birds and everyone else picks on them. They are hard to photograph when nesting - secretive and well covered, at least in my mango trees they are.

I like the photo for the framing, natural colours and sharpness of the eye of the one on the RHS. I reckon their normal habitat is rooftops more than tree branches nowadays simply because we keep cutting trees down.

The roof is just a few metres from their trees so they spend a lot of time there, displaying and mating and just basking in the sun. All part of their environment.
      Thanks

Great looking birds Rebecca, they look like they are real characters.

We don't get them where I live, but I do see them down on the flatter country closer to the coast.
    Cheers, Brad.

I like the light in this, good details in the rhs one, the lhs one being on the different plane makes it a tough shot, probably needed more dof
the rhs one would stand well on its own
