  • Pale Headed Rosella

This is from back in June at the nearby Eagleby Wetlands. There were a pair of these moving around in and out of the dappled light in the shade of the paperbarks. Mixed results with the uneven lighting and the DOF wasn't enough to cover the whole bird in this shot.

Beautiful photo Alan. Not a species I have down here, but I've found these birds to be rather shy

Well done - maybe the crop is a tad tight? But the B/G is very nice. Yes, maybe a smaller f/stop than f/5 would have provided a better DOF

But one has to deal with so many variables though

Thanks Alan. They are usually quite shy. This is the first one I've had fairly close with a clear shot, even though they sometimes visit our back yard.

Beautiful bird and the background is quite complimentary. Well done.

Great shot. In focus where it needs to be on the head. Rosellas can be difficult to just fit the whole bird in the frame due to the long tail. I like this type of light, gives it a more natural and atmospheric look.

Thanks Rebecca. Yes I chopped off the tail on a number of shots and this is one of only a couple where the light worked for me.

I do like it Alan. I think the light looks good and the pose is different from the norm which shows us it's beautiful colours.

Another nice photo. This is not a subbranch of bird watchers Australia?
