Whistling Kite on the wing.

I got about 50 shots of these, not many keepers though.
No wonder when I look at the settings, I was using 1/1000th shutter.

the 2nd is my fav of these. 1000th probably not do it for you. mind you soaring it isnt that bad, but the more you use, it cancels out any issues you have with the camera.

I mentioned whistling kites coming close around patonga at the central coast north of sydney. we were on a boat in broken bay following sea eagles, but there were about a dozen whistling kites hanging around, sometimes too close for the 600 too. we were using 1/3200 ish in good light. took away boat rolling, my puny arms shaking holding the 600f4 etc etc.

the exif if useful to note on those pix. the high shutter speeds etc.

I think the exif was the key info, the higher shutter speed cancels out issues with our techniques

As long as you got some keepers Brad. A couple of nice shots there. I like the cloud in the second. The first two look a bit small in the frame, will they stand a tighter crop?

Thanks Alan. I didn't crop those first two very much at all, they were too soft and it would really show with tighter crops.

Thought that might have been the case. I often have the same problem.
