These are fairly common around here but they seem to keep their distance much more than the Black Duck. Also known as White-eyed Duck, but this is a female and only the males have the white eye.

Not one I'm familiar with either.

Lovely colours, detail, light and eye contact.

A lower pov would lift it even more, but may not have been possible.

Maybe a slight crop off the top too?

He does look like a very intelligent duck to me with that high forehead.
Nice sharp image, and the water is a lovely swirling foil.
I'd like to see how this would look from a lower POV.

Thanks all. Good point about the POV. I might have one with a lower viewpoint.

Here's one with a slightly lower viewpoint, and cropped a little tighter.

All lovely photos wigz. It's alright for you youngies to get down low. We oldies could do it easy too, we can get down but need an army of carers to get back up again!

Seems to always feel a little more intimate when you get a bird at eye level.
Well done. Any lower you would obviously have been swimming.

Thanks all, I like it too. Can't remember why I picked the original version.

good work on these. you probably picked the first one with the higher angle cos it showed off more of that nice water perhaps
