  • Double-banded Plovers

A small flock has been frequenting our beach, on and off, for awhile now. A birding mate was surprised that they hadn't left for New Zealand, but Birds in Backyards says they return to Australia in Winter?

Anyway, 7 were there again this morning - nicely coloured up.

Charadrius bicinctus. Moruya Heads. D90 300mm x1.7TC., Tripod

    f/7.1 1/4000 560 ISO (auto)

    f/7.1 1/4000 450 ISO (auto)

A fair crop and it looks like I missed focus, so IQ has suffered, but I seldom get one looking directly at me - mostly backsides running quickly away.

Thanks Barb and Stephen - both large crops - I just couldn't get any closer to them - oh for a 600mm lens (or better stalking skills )
