    Top one is a new one for me.

    I'm find them cropped a bit tight, but I realise why you did it.

    I have the same problem on my bird bath. I have to wait for them to land on the placed perch above/next to.

    I try to look for interesting branches in my travels so I don't have the same branch appearing in my shots for months on end - (been a slack lately though).

    I also find draping a bit of 'Old Man's Beard' over a branch can 'age' it if you can't find a nice lichen covered one.

    Also keeping a simple b/g a fair distance away so it blurs nicely. I haven't achieved this in our new place, yet.

    It's always a challenge

      All good points... haven't got old mans beard around here that any old man would want to give me.. but I do understand the idea.. I am sure I could come up with a substitute.
