  • Topknot Pigeon.

When I got out of the car this afternoon, I disturbed this Topknot who was eating some palm seeds in a tree beside the house. It flew to this branch about 40 meters away.
Luckily it was still there when I came back out with the camera.

    Nikon D7100, Tamron 150-600mm. @600mm, f8, 1/1000th, iso400 , 800, 640. All cropped about 50-60%

The top knot pigeon is a new one to me. And what a curious looking bird... not the pigeons are know for their intelligence, but this species looks like it has anencephaly
Well done on getting the exposure right against that bright sky too.
Thank you for your enlightening image and expanding my bird repertoire.

Haven't been there, not done that.

Cheers Jo, the topknot does give them an individual look, sometimes they look like they have a "comb-over". Not a common bird in my area, I see them maybe 3 or 4 times every year.
      Cheers, Brad.

Never seen one of those. I guess they're tropical?

They don't extend down as far as you Greg, my book says Cape York to Bermagui.
          Cheers, Brad.

Great to get a "not so common" bird Ironwood. Nicely done. I've never seen one but there's a lot of stuff I've never seen

My memory's not as sharp as it used to be.
